Lujiang Hotel Xiamen
www.lujiang-hotel.com
| 200 rooms |China, Fujian, Xiamen ( Amoy ),

It is the commanding seafront location and the wonderful views of the harbour and Gulangyu Island that make this attractive, ideally located hotel, so special.
Although little more than twenty years old, the hotel and the bustling seafront, exude a nineteenth century European flavour. Splendid views can be enjoyed from wonderful outdoor dining areas.
This fine hotel is ideally situated across the road from the ferry which departs for Gulangyu Island every few minutes.
Even if you decide to stay on Gulangyu Island, which is probably the best idea, be sure to enjoy a drink or a meal on the roof-top terrace at this hotel. It overlooks the busy harbour to the red tile rooftops of the old villas on Gulangyu Island.

Bayview Inn

| 25 rooms |China, Fujian, Xiamen (Gulangyu) ,

The Inn is located on the small island of Gulangyu, just off the coast of Xiamen (formerly known as Amoy). Gulangyu has a relatively small population of around only 15,000 people. Cars and motorcycles are banned and there are lots of ex-colonial buildings, reflecting Xiamen’s Treaty Port past. Unfortunately, the island is also extremely popular with Chinese tourists, who arrive in droves, usually in large tour groups and the noisy crowds can at times diminish the attractiveness. Nonetheless, the island makes for a pleasant short stay and offers a unique experience in China.

The Bayview Inn is located quite near the wharf. Once you get off the ferry, walk straight ahead and immediately on your left you’ll see a stone stairway leading to the top of a small hill. Just around a corner you’ll find the Bayview, a pleasantly restored guesthouse with helpful, English speaking staff and a great outlook, especially from the rooftop. Private rooms are clean and comfortable, as is the six-bed dorm if you’re on a tight budget. The Bayview also has its own cute coffee shop with great coffee and simple meals.

Marine Garden Hotel

| 88 rooms |China, Fujian, Xiamen (Gulangyu) ,

This modern, pseudo colonial creation, with little architectural merit, is a good hotel and it is included in this listing because of its wonderful location on Gulangyu Island. The hotel overlooks a clean, sandy beach, which is often extremely crowded at week-ends. The impressive Sunlight Rock, with its commanding look-out, looms above. A wonderful place to stay for a couple of restful days.

http://www.513villa.com/
| 150 rooms |China, Fujian, Wuyi Shan,

Located at the foot of Dawang Feng, also known as Great King Peak because it’s shaped like an ancient Chinese official’s hat, Wuyi is more of a community resort than a hotel, making it ideal for families. The interesting layout is worth the trip alone. It resembles an authentic ancient Chinese mountain village and its closeness to the mountains means great views from most rooms. There’s a nice outdoor swimming area, perfect to take in the refreshing mountain air, plus a traditional tea room and both Chinese and Western restaurants, with a karaoke room for some after-dinner fun. Visually appealing and boasting a friendly welcome, the Wu Yi Mountain Villa is the perfect spot for a leisurely vacation.

Changdi Inn, Fuyu Building

| 20 rooms |China, Fujian, Hongkeng,

Having traveled into the wilds of Fujian province, specifically to visit the tulou (large community earth dwellings of the Hakka community) you could be forgiven for wondering just how basic your accommodation might be. However, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find that Fuyu Lou is a square community dwelling, part of which has been converted into an atmospheric guest house, with a central courtyard serving delicious food and a host who speaks excellent English. The house belongs to the Ling clan and is over 130 years old. The rooms are plain but comfortable and have, wonder of wonders, private Internet connections with superfast broadband! The bathroom facilities have to be shared, but there’s plenty of hot water and if you get up early enough you won’t need to queue for the shower.

Naya Hotel
www.naya-hotel.com
| 7 rooms |China, Fujian, Xiamen (Gulangyu) ,

After China lost the First Opium War, the country was forced to open five "Treaty Ports" one of which was Xiamen. As a result, the nearby island of Gulang Yu became a foreign enclave and the distinctive blue-colored Naya Hotel was once the German Consulate.

Today it’s a secret retreat where those in-the-know head for the cozy little café to savor the delicious coffee and tasty snacks. If you’re tempted to stay longer, there’s also a mixture of accommodation, including dormitories and some rather basic standard rooms, but pay a little more and head for one of the special rooms with unique names like "islet", "wheat", "ocean" and "garden.

They are much more comfortable and worth the extra money with amenities such as TV and DVD players, even fresh towels!
Apart from the comfortable accommodation, you’ll also feel right at home with the self-service kitchen and anyone who has the time and the inclination is welcome to get their hands dirty working in the garden.
